The paper model toad was designed by @amphibianaday and made available to all at https://amphibianaday.tumblr.com/post/689143715731767296/papercraft-toad-google-drive . I used two strands (one green and one brown) of stranded cotton in my long-and-short stitch in order to create a mottled effect. My version of the toad has an open mouth and is curvier than the original version.
When I'd finished, I put my toad into a terrarium to keep it clean while on display, along with an embroidered succulent that I made based on a pattern from the Brother website: https://www.creativecenter.brother/en-gb/home/home-category/paper-crafts-origami/do-it-yourself-projects/terrarium-plants-succulent .
